Prayer for Japan: In Memory of Kenji Goto

As we live our live we are affected by the different people we see around us. The news was flooded with pictures of this brave Japanese journalist captured by ISIS back in January 2015 and the whole nation of Japan got to see Christianity in action through this man’s sacrifice.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)

Time passes and many people forget, but we will not forget the memory of the man who risked all to save his friend. Truly the Kingdom of Heaven must belong to such as these.

Dear God,

In a world of cowards and hypocrites, we ask that you remember your brave servant Kenji Goto. We thank you for his life and his witness. Please God comfort his family as they continue to grieve the loss of their loved one. May you truly bless his children and may they carry on their father’s legacy of Strength and Determination. We know that there are no perfect people in this world, Lord. We know that all have sinned, but God, please remember people like Goto-san who actively lived out their faith as a witness to this stubborn nation.

God have mercy on us all!

In Jesus Name,

Amen.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4)
